Age Spots

September 21st, 2009 by admin

The term age spot refers to the spots that appear on the skin as a result of prolonged sun damage. These spots appear on areas of the skin that are exposed to the damaging rays of the sun for the long amounts of time (hands, face, shoulders and arms).

The dark, brown spots appear as a result of damaged melanin pigments in the skin. Individuals with fairer skin are more susceptible to the appearance of age spots, as they generally have a lower melanin count in the skin; whereas individuals with darker skin are more likely to be better protected from the sun’s harmful rays.  You will find many clinics who offer cosmetic surgery abroad that will be able to offer a range of treatments that are suitable.
